2014 Aquatic Habitat Restoration Projects
The replacement and modification of the Meredith #1 & #2, #3, #4 and #5 Diversions has eliminated the remaining fish passage impediments on Beech Creek, a tributary of the John Day River. Diversion #4 phase 1 was completed in 2015 while Diversion #4 phase 2 was completed in 2016. These improvements provide fish passage for all life stages of salmonids. The watershed will benefit by the reduction of streambed and riparian disturbance, the re-establishment of riparian vegetation, improved water quality, and increased cold water refugia for salmonids.
